Opuntia Pads are a great natural food for a range of species such as Tortoises, Bearded Dragons, Iguanas, Chameleons, Uromastyx and more! Not only is it a food eaten naturally by many reptiles in the wild (particularly Mediterranean and desert species), but it is naturally high in moisture and so aids hydration. Opuntia also contains a very high level of Calcium, as well as having a great Calcium:Phosphorous ratio.  

While some animals are more than happy to chew on a whole piece of prickly pear, it is often worth cutting into smaller chunks. When left uncut, a whole piece of leaf can remain in good edible condition for up to six months. This means that you can get fantastic value from this style of food.

You can chop it or grate it and put it with your salad or vegetables or directly to give it whole to your reptiles.

IMPORTANT: wash it well before giving it to your reptiles, as it may have some small spikes. Handle cautiously as small prickles are like tiny splinters to human skin but safe for reptiles to ingest. I wear gloves to prepare mine.

DURATION: About 1 month or 2 months if stored correctly.

Store In refrigerator or at room temperature 5-15 degrees.
