Supporting Mental Health, Sustainability & Community Through Nature

Who We Are
Obsessive Recessive Roots CIC is a community-led wellbeing project based in North Wingfield, Derbyshire. You may know us from our pet shop in Clay Cross, where we’ve been part of the community for years through our love of animals and people.

Our CIC brings that passion into nature—offering inclusive, land-based activities that support mental health, personal growth, and connection through animals, growing, and community.

We’re proud to run our sessions on privately owned land in North Wingfield, giving us a secure, natural space to grow something meaningful.

What We Do

🧠 Mental Health Support Through Nature
We offer a safe, welcoming environment for adults, men, SEN children, and families to explore nature-based activities that bring calm, purpose, and connection.

🐷 Animal Care & Connection
Participants help care for friendly animals including pigs, goats, and small pets—building confidence, emotional connection, and responsibility through animal care.

🌾 Community Food Growing & Sustainability
We grow fresh food using sustainable, low-waste methods. Our produce supports local people, helps teach food skills, and connects us to the earth.

🌳 Forest School-Inspired Activities
Bushcraft, nature walks, den-building, sensory play, foraging, and more—ideal for SEN children, families, and young people who thrive outdoors.

🛠 Heavy Work & Grounding Tasks
Fence building, compost turning, planting, firewood stacking—hands-on, structured tasks that help people feel grounded and purposeful.

🎉 Workshops & Community Events
We host creative sessions and gatherings including:
• Wildlife support (bug hotels, bird boxes)
• Men’s wellbeing circles
• Nature crafts & sustainability workshops
• Community cookouts and harvest events

🦔 Wildlife & Eco-Education
We support local biodiversity through habitat creation, planting for pollinators, and nature-awareness activities for all ages.
